Chairman - William Reeve
William Reeve has a long and successful entrepreneurial background. In 1997 he founded Fletcher Research which became the UK's leading internet research firm. The business was subsequently acquired by Forrester Research which he joined to become their European Group Director. In 2003, he founded ScreenSelect.co.uk, the online DVD rental business. Backed by Index Ventures, Benchmark Capital, Arts Alliance and Esprit Capital, they subsequently merged with LOVEFiLM in late 2006. The combined business now has nearly half a million subscribers and handles over 5 million transactions per month. William is a former McKinsey consultant and has a First class degree from Oxford University.
CEO - William Tunstall-Pedoe
William Tunstall-Pedoe founded True Knowledge based on research he began in 1998 and he has more than twenty-five years experience of both developing and commercially exploiting software products that push the boundaries of what is possible in Artificial Intelligence. In addition to inventing the technology on which True Knowledge is based, William is also credited with being the first and only person to develop software that can solve and explain cryptic crossword clues. He is also the developer of Anagram Genius - a software product that has been used by approximately five million people and which generated the anagrams that appear in the best-selling Da Vinci Code book and movie. William has a First class degree in Computer Science from Cambridge University.
Commercial Director - Mitch Pender
Mitch Pender has a long and successful track record commercializing emerging technologies. Prior to joining True Knowledge, he was VP Corporate Development for Envisional, a company which leveraged internet search to fight online crime such as bank fraud, counterfeit goods trading and digital asset piracy. In his role with Envisional, he was responsible for seeding partnerships with other technology firms with aim to create routes to successful exit. Prior joining Envisional, Mitch helped to lead Actuate Corporation's OEM partnership group in the US, building business relationships with many of key technology partners. Mitch has also held senior sales and sales management positions with MicroStrategy and Speedware.
Mitch earned an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from HEC Paris and a BA (Hons) in Environmental Geography from Queen's University, Canada.
VP Engineering - Matt Young
Matt Young has over a decade of experience in systems development, having managed many IT groups - including in exceptionally high volume traffic environments. A strong leader with an excellent track record, Matt's recent roles have included CTO at MyFaveShop.com (a start-up company backed by Maurice Saatchi) and Distributed Development Director at Betfair (the world's leading online betting exchange). Prior to that he held technical and managerial positions at companies including Bloomberg, Sapient and Vignette. Before entering the IT industry, Matt was a Civil Service Fast Streamer devising new tax legislation and providing policy advice to Ministers. Matt holds a degree in Mathematics from Cambridge University.
Head of HR - Sue Murray
Sue Murray has over thirteen years experience in Human Resources within the IT and technology sectors. Sue's recent roles have included HR Manager at Citrix Systems, Antenova (a leading developer of antennas and RF modules) and BSkyB. Prior to that she was HR Consultant at Microsoft Research and NTL. Sue is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Investors
The company was initially financed by the founder, other private investors and the East of England Development Agency (EEDA).
In 2007 and 2008 the company received a total of GBP2.5m in venture finance from Octopus Ventures.
