There are many examples of a democratic monarchy, more correctly called a constitutional monarchy.
The most obvious is the oldest, the United Kingdom, which is governed in practice by an elected parliament, but has a Queen (at present) as titular Head of State.
Other examples are Spain, Belgium, Netherlands (Holland) and many others
