My opinion is that for our official use and proper calculations we specify that there are total 24 hours in a day.Otherwise it is very difficult for us to know exact number of hours in a day.

that is wrong. see, this generation is just plain stupid! i can tell because of whats been going on latley. when 2000 came,everyone somehow got stupid.and i can tell that in about 25-30 years that even smart people will think 24 hours! the truth is, there are 23.7 hours in a day. 24 hours is an estimate. it would be hard and stressful to mutiply 23.7. because of daylight savings time,it is 23.7 hours.this is all so that you people in this generation will know the truth about how many hours are in a day. so that way in the future people will be living life by the lies

A sidereal day is 23 hours, 56 minutes, 4 seconds. A sidereal day is the length of time it takes for the earth to make one complete rotation of its axis, in other words, for the North Star to appear in exactly the same spot from one night to the next. A solar day is how long it takes the sun to reappear in exactly the same spot in the sky one day later. This varies by season of the year and meridian. For ease of business & social purposes, we use 24 hours in a day just because it's close enough for most non-scientific purposes.
