There are plenty of sources that tell us the inventor of Pasteurization was Louis Pasteur. A pretty obvious statement I am sure. But perhaps a little too obvious! There may not be an available true answer to this question as yet because what is beginning to emerge at the present day is that Pasteur himself doubted towards the end of his life, his own theories about the pathogenic "germ" as he called it. He is reputed to have said that "It is not the germ we have to fear but the environment of that germ".
However that statement would not have suited some people who saw a goldmine in using (or abusing) Pasteur's work, by encouraging the bringing in of the process called pasteurization to 'fight' the villain bug of Tuberculosis which was devastating populations at that time. What was good news for such an industry was the almost paranoid fear of everyone for the TB illness. In spite of the fact that the TB bug was and still is almost ubiquitous throughout the world. Wow! What an opportunity for an entrepreneur who could push the fear that the TB bug created in everyone. No reference to the environmental conditions; just a concentration on this massive opportunity to attack the villain bug.
May I suggest that this question might really take the form of researching the real circumstances surrounding Pasteur's discoveries with a view to looking at how his work MAY have been hi-jacked by such industrialists seeking a fortune, who would have (to use an American journalist's comment) refused to let the facts get in the way of a good - and profitable - story. It might have been the first time such a thing happened (though I would also doubt that) but it certainly was not the last!!!
